Fatima Zaidi

My life pursuit is to promote human dignity through education. For more than 10 years I have helped hundreds of Neurodivergent (ND) families and children learn art and leisure skills.

Creativity is an important tool for expression for all learners but in particular to our ND community members. I strive to break down barriers and lift voices within the education system.

My art journey is an exercise in practicing empathy, bringing awareness to the intersectionality of our collective struggle, and expressing the personal nuances of my life.

Nashpati the Kinnar

Nashpati the Kinnar

Nashpati is trans in that she transcends gender, sexuality. She is deeply masculine and deeply feminine. Deeply balanced under the auspice of nature. She is strong and resolute. Calm, collected, cool. With the storms she has suffered in her life, she is resilient and real with you. She doesn’t look at your imperfections, she looks at your humanity. Through her eye you are dignified and worthy, just as she is dignified and worthy.

The Decaying Promise

The Decaying Promise

We promise an unnatural promise. Our feelings change. An unsustainable promise. Our environments change. Atomic bonds our metal promise. Our chemicals change. An Ignorant promise. Our brains change. The decaying promise.

Rekha

Rekha

Great Indian Actress. Starred in one of my favorite movies, Umrao Jaan.

Nashpati's Sister

Nashpati's Sister

Nashpati’s sister. Where nashpati is balanced and calming, Nashpati’s sister is young, thoroughly fortified with wild feminine energy. Dangerous and fun, she is the midnight cat strolling around in the alley like it’s midday and her town.

Roohi (Ma) was over my shoulder when I painted this. She kept pushing me to try harder and harder. Sometimes I would bend; sometimes I would say its style.

American Dream

American Dream

I remember locks like these in school. I remember forgetting how to unlock these during the summer and having to relearn it every year. Right, left, left, right? Right? Just forget it. Just break it, cut it open. Dismember is intricacies. It’s too complicated, too trivial, in the way. I have an American dream. Breaking and entering is how I achieve.
